The US base salary range for this full-time position is $243,750 - $406,250 plus bonus eligibility and other elements of our total rewards package. The range represents the amount BNSF reasonably expects to pay based on the role's level, scope, and responsibilities. Individual compensation and level of position offered depend on the hiring location and additional factors including skills, experience, and education. In addition to base pay, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Position: Senior Network Engineer

You will bring a passion for automation and simplifying processes for your business partners. Your role involves translating complex concepts and technologies into understandable solutions, acting as a teacher with a unique blend of infrastructure, networking, virtualization, and automation expertise.

Experience

• 12+ years supporting large-scale global production network environments.
• Hands-on experience managing hybrid cloud networks using AWS and/or Azure.

Basic Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the US currently.
• Ability to work in the US without sponsorship now and in the future.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Extensive understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work remotely.
• Willingness to learn and grow in network engineering.
• Expertise in switching and routing protocols such as Spanning Tree, OSPF, BGP, VXLAN, etc.
• Experience developing infrastructure automation tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or Go.
• Experience with automation via device APIs.
• Strong experience with Linux, Git, Github Actions, Jenkins, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience with network operating systems like Cisco IOS, SONiC, Arista EOS, Panorama, PanOS.
• Experience with load balancing technologies like VMware AVI, F5.
• Firewall policy management experience.
• Integration experience with third-party systems like Aruba/Versa SDWAN, Arista, Infoblox IPAM.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Willingness to not require future sponsorship for employment.
• Experience in transportation industries such as Rail, Shipping, Airline, Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain.
• Experience with open-source libraries and frameworks.
• Experience working at a large telecommunication organization.
