Your Career

The Data Platform team within Cortex Xpanse is expanding, and we are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer.

The team builds systems that transform trillions of data points into critical cybersecurity insights, covering data-heavy processing, storage, scalable pipelines, frameworks, tools, and internal applications to make data accessible and useful.

Xpanse helps protect vital organizations by identifying internet risks others cannot find, helping define and secure the perimeters of major organizations worldwide.

Your Impact

• Design, build, and operate core data services: storage (cloud data warehouse, data lake), orchestration (Jenkins), batch/stream processing (Apache Beam - Dataflow), streaming services (Pub/Sub).
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to architect and maintain data systems supporting new features.
• Develop services for data security and observability, including access controls, data quality tracking, and dataset lineage.
• Work with stakeholders to drive innovation across Xpanse and Palo Alto Networks.

Your Experience

• 3+ years in software engineering.
• Strong Java skills.
• Experience with data systems and pipelines like Beam.
• Effective communicator with a collaborative approach.
• Analytical skills with SQL, Jenkins, Python for operational data analysis.
• Knowledge of databases, data modeling, and performance tuning.

Skills

• Experience with BigQuery, PostgreSQL, BigTable, Apache Beam, Terraform, or related technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD systems.
• Cybersecurity experience is a plus.

Compensation Disclosure
