Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a senior embedded software leader to drive architecture, design, development, testing and deployment of mission-critical RT embedded systems for the Sentinel program. You will lead teams, integrate BSPs and drivers, and ensure robust real-time performance.

The role requires extensive C++ experience, RTOS configuration, and mentoring of engineers, with a focus on high-assurance avionics software in a challenging environment in Roy, Utah.

Qualifications

• 14 Years with Bachelor’s in relevant field of study, 12 Years with Masters, 10 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• Must be a US Citizen, with an active DoD Secret clearance and be eligible for a SAP.
• +10 Years of SW Experience (Experience in C++, real-time embedded)

Responsibilities

• Architect complex systems and lead design, development, testing and deployment of mission-critical software.
• Integrate board support packages and drivers to ensure compatibility across components.
• Configure real-time operating systems, including kernel parameters and task scheduling; manage IPC.
• Develop middleware integration and apply appropriate communication models across layers.
• Mentor and guide software engineers; participate in formal testing and defect resolution.
• Support the Sentinel Program from Roy, Utah, contributing to embedded software products.

What You'll Get To Do

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership within the AVE Flight Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) team, focusing on the development of mission-critical software products. They will architect complex systems and lead the design, development, testing, and deployment phases, ensuring compatibility through the development and integration of board support packages and driver implementations. Expertise in real-time operating systems is essential, including configuring kernel parameters, managing task scheduling, and implementing inter-process communication. To include the development and facilitation of middleware integration, utilizing appropriate communication models. Responsibilities include integrating application, system, and device layers on real-time embedded systems, performing performance measurements, and optimizing throughput to enhance system performance, and mentoring software engineers. Candidate will also participate and advise in the formal testing approach for embedded software products, closed loop sim integration, and defect troubleshooting and resolution. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and support the Sentinel Program.
