Job Description

Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer responsible for concept development, requirements definition, and detailed design of infrared and visible optical systems and E-O testing solutions to meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support engineering and sales teams in responding to customer RFIs/RFQs for IR and visible testing components and systems.
2. Balance innovation, technical performance, cost, and schedule to develop effective solutions, maintaining SBIR's leadership in E-O test equipment.
3. Demonstrate technical leadership and mentor team members.
4. Design complex optical systems and associated testing equipment.
5. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to develop and execute detailed product designs.
6. Develop system requirements and flow-down requirements for sub-systems and components.
7. Create system description documents and user manuals.
8. Perform additional activities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5-10 years of related experience; advanced degree preferred.
• Must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or granted asylum due to US Export Control Regulations.
• Pass background, reference, ITAR/EAR checks, and a pre-employment drug screen.
