Job summary

Invenergy is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to perform engineering activities for project development and the technical design of utility-scale solar projects across North America.

The position supports hybrid work: in-office Monday–Thursday and remote on Fridays, with responsibilities spanning site evaluation, permitting, and collaboration with finance and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in engineering or related technical field.
• 3–5 years in the renewable energy industry.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Utilize performance modeling software including PVSyst and SAM to prepare energy production estimates.
• Analyze meteorological datasets and MCP methods to assess resource characteristics.
• Prepare conceptual project layouts using CAD and GIS; optimize for value.
• Interface with PV module, inverter, and racking OEMs for technical info and trends.
• Conduct site visits and support landowner meetings and construction meetings.
• Assist with permitting efforts at federal, state, and local levels.
• Support sales proposals through development and origination teams.

Job Description

Position Overview

The Senior Staff Engineer will perform engineering activities for project development and assist with the technical design and evaluation of utility-scale solar projects in Invenergy’s target markets throughout North America.

Invenergy follows a hybrid schedule, working in office Monday through Thursday and remotely on Fridays.

Responsibilities

• Utilize performance modeling software including PVSyst, and System Advisory Model (SAM) to prepare energy production estimates.
• Analyze available meteorological datasets and utilize MCP (Measure-Correlate-Predict) methods to assess project resource characteristics.
• Prepare conceptual project layouts utilizing CAD and GIS software. Optimize layouts to maximize project value.
• Interface with PV module, inverter, and racking OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to obtain technical information and stay apprised of technology advancements and trends.
• Conduct site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts. Participate in landowner meetings, community outreach events, and monthly construction meetings.
• Assist the development team with federal, state, county, and local permitting efforts.
• Support the development and origination teams with the preparation of sales proposals.
• Work with the structured finance team to provide responses to lender and independent engineer due diligence questions throughout the project financing process.
• Interface with the Project Management and Operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations. Ensure timely and complete transfer of technical responsibilities.
• Work with the project electrical engineering team to support electrical system design and compliance efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical discipline including but not limited to, Physics, Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, and Environmental Science.
• 3-5 years in the renewable energy industry.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in an engineering or other relevant science discipline is a plus.
• Familiarity with energy modeling software including PVSyst, and SAM.
• Knowledge of meteorological data sources, MCP methods, and other statistical analysis.
• Experience with modeling energy project economics and familiarity with concepts such as NPV, IRR and LCOE.
• Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time.
• Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated interest in renewable energy.
• Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds.

Base Pay

$85,000.00 - $108,000.00 USD Annual

Bonus: 15%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
