Role Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced and technically adept Senior Staff Electronic Design Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design and development of our next-generation infotainment and connectivity electronic control units (ECUs). This is a critical position responsible for driving the architectural definition, detailed design, and successful implementation of complex high-speed digital and RF circuits.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of electronic design principles, a proven track record of bringing complex designs from concept to production, and a strong passion for automotive electronics. You will be a key contributor to a multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with software, mechanical, validation, and manufacturing engineers to deliver robust and high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural definition, detailed design, and analysis of complex infotainment and connectivity ECUs.
  • Design high-speed digital circuits incorporating high-compute System-on-Chips (SoCs), high-speed memory interfaces (e.g., DDR4/5), and high-speed serial communication protocols (e.g., PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet, MIPI).
  • Integrate RF modules or design chip-down solutions for wireless communication technologies such as Cellular (4G/5G), V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything), and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth.
  • Drive schematic capture, PCB layout guidance, and collaborate with layout engineers to ensure design manufacturability and performance.
  • Define and execute design verification plans, including functional testing, environmental testing, and EMC/EMI compliance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including software, mechanical, validation, and manufacturing to ensure seamless product development.
  • Act as a technical lead and mentor to junior engineers, providing guidance and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and provide constructive feedback to improve design quality and efficiency.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electronic design, particularly in the automotive and wireless communication domains.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex hardware issues, utilizing various lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in electronic hardware design, with a significant portion focused on complex digital and mixed-signal designs.
  • Proven experience designing complex high-speed designs incorporating high-compute SoCs (e.g., ARM-based processors, automotive-grade SoCs).
  • Demonstrated expertise in high-speed memory interface design (DDR, LPDDR).
  • Strong experience integrating RF modules or designing chip-down RF solutions for Cellular (e.g., LTE, 5G), V2X, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, PADS).
  • Solid understanding of signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) principles and analysis tools.
  • Experience with EMC/EMI design best practices and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment for hardware bring-up, debug, and characterization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to root cause analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with power management design for complex ECUs.
  • Proficient in using ADS for the design, simulation, and optimization of RF circuits
  • Skilled in tuning RF circuits for optimal performance, utilizing both simulation data and real-world testing to achieve desired specifications and improve signal quality
  • Experience in optimizing PCB stack-ups for reliability, cost, and manufacturability
  • Experience with automotive industry standards and processes (e.g., ASPICE, ISO 26262).
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet AVB/TSN).
