Join our team as we help shape the future. **Job Summary** The Sr Staff Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for design ing, building, securing, and modernizing the technology environments that support reliable, scalable, and efficient enterprise operations. They apply expertise across cloud, hybrid, and on -preminfrastructure, automation, infrastructure as code, resiliency, observability, and operational excelle nce to improve platform performance, reduce risk, and enable faster, more consistent delivery. They partner across engineerin g, security,architecture, operations, and business teams to ensure infrastructure services are stable, cost -aware, compliant, and aligned to evolving business and technology needs.**Span and Responsibility** •Owns the technical direction, design integrity,and operational outcomes for highly complexinfrastructure capabilities that span multipleplatforms, services, teams, or technologydomains, while operating as a senior individualcontributor with no direct reports. •Leads cross -functional virtual squads ortechnical workstreams across Infrastructure,Security, and Architecture, to deliverenterprise -critical outcomes.•Serves as a recognized subject matter expertacross one or more infrastructure domains,shaping platform direction, engineeringstandards, reusable patterns, and operatingpractices beyond a single team. •Defines, designs, and advances scalableinfrastructure platforms, shared services,automation frameworks, observability,resiliency patterns, integrations, andoperational controls across hybridon-premises and cloud environments. •Owns design choices for AI -enabled , AIOps, oragentic infrastructure capabilities whenrequirements are broad, standards areevolving, or cross -domain trade -offs arerequired. •Modernizes infrastructure services,automation, configurations, runbooks,deployment patterns, and operationalworkflows to improve scalability, resiliency,security, performance, cost efficiency, andlong -term supportability. •Establishes reusable playbooks, automationpatterns, validation practices, anddocumentation standards that enable otherengineers and teams to execute consistentlyand safely. **Technical Qualifications** •8–10 years of applicable software engineeringexperience.•Expert proficiency in one or more modernprogramming languages (Java, C#/.NET,Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).•Strong full -stack expertise (front endframeworks, APIs, back -end services).•Deep experience with automated testing,CI/CD, and AIOps practices.•Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS,Azure, GCP), containers, and distributedsystems.•Advanced understanding of secure coding,vulnerability remediation, and dataprotection.•Proven experience with agentic AIarchitectures, LLM prompting, and human -AIinteraction design.•Hands -on use of AI-assisted developmenttools to improve engineering productivity.•Strong awareness of AI -driven security risksand responsible AI practices. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.**Compensation**The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:$137,200 - $205,800
