Job summary

System One, OKC, is seeking a Sr. Staff Accountant to manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and GAAP-based financial reporting for our operations.

A BS in Accounting and 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience are required. Strong Excel skills, detail orientation, and the ability to prioritize deadlines are essential; CPA or active pursuit is preferred. This onsite role offers a salary range of $80,000 to $90,000.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
• Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and fixed assets.
• Advanced or strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and detailed account analyses.
• Perform year-over-year variance analysis, investigate significant changes, and communicate findings.
• Review general ledger activity for accurate recording and proper classification.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain the fixed asset ledger, including depreciation and capital project activity.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close with complete, accurate records.
• Prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flows.
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and ensure proper amortization and allocation.
• Support federal, state, and local regulatory reporting as required.
• Assist during external audits with schedules and auditor requests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and detailed account analyses.
• Perform year-over-year variance analysis, investigate significant changes, and communicate findings.
• Review general ledger activity to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain the fixed asset ledger, including depreciation schedules and capital project activity.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and well documented.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows.
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and ensure expenses are properly amortized and allocated.
• Prepare and support required federal, state, and local regulatory reporting.
• Serve as a primary accounting contact during external audits, preparing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
• Review and/or process ACH and wire transactions while following internal controls.
• Look for opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen accuracy.
• Partner with other departments to understand financial activity and resolve accounting questions.
• Assist the Controller with special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and fixed assets.
• Advanced or strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently.
• Clear, professional communication skills.
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
• Preferred Experience: CPA or actively pursuing CPA, experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP.
