Job summary

Ulta Beauty, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support general ledger accounting, closes, planning processes, and accounting systems. You will perform journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and support forecasts and budgets.

The role requires a BS in Accounting and a CPA, with 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience. SAP S/4HANA and Blackline experience are preferred, in a hybrid environment.

THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The General Accounting department is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to support the company's general ledger accounting, financial close, planning processes, and financial accounting systems. This role will perform key period-end accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, internal controls, and support for forecasts and budgets.

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

• Actively participate in period, quarter, and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting workpapers, and other close activities.
• Perform accounting activities for assigned areas, including cash and credit card activity, payroll, employee benefits, and insurance-related reserves.
• Analyze financial results and account activity, investigate period-over-period variances and unusual items, and document key drivers and findings to support financial reporting.
• Partner with Payroll, Treasury, Benefits and other business partners to obtain and evaluate information necessary to support accounting entries, reconciliations and period-end close activities.
• Perform intercompany accounting activities, including analysis and clearing of intercompany balances and timely investigation and resolution of differences.
• Maintain accurate and complete account reconciliations and supporting documentation in accordance with established accounting policies and internal control requirements.
• Support compliance with internal controls and provide documentation and other assistance for internal and external audit requests.
• Provide accounting support for budget and forecast preparation related to assigned areas.
• Serve as a resource for assigned accounting areas and partner with team members and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve accounting and process-related issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing accounting and close processes.
• Perform other routine and non-routine accounting activities as assigned by management.

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

• BS degree in Accounting and CPA required
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Retail or public accounting experience preferred

• SAP S/4HANA experience is strongly preferred.
• Blackline experience is a plus

The pay range for this position is $77,600.00 - $110,000.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company's bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
