Job summary

Ulta Beauty, Inc. is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Financial Planning and Analysis team in Bolingbrook, IL. The role focuses on forecasting, budgeting, and delivering data-driven insights that support strategic decisions.

You will partner with Accounting and business leaders, manage the close process, develop forecasts, and drive profitability through actionable financial analysis and reporting. A hybrid work model is offered.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Statistics/Math or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in finance/FP&A or forecasting.
• Strong analytical, modeling and reporting capabilities.
• Experience compiling data, creating queries and canned reports.
• Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; Power BI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage close, forecast and budgeting processes with cross-functional partners.
• Develop financial forecasts, evaluate risks and opportunities, and provide actionable insights.
• Own reporting processes and KPIs to predict future performance and trends.
• Advise business leaders on profitability and capital allocation decisions.

THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

As a member of the Financial Planning and Analysis team, the Senior Financial Analyst will be a key strategic partner to business leaders, providing financial guidance to drive data-backed decisions and delivering insights that promote accountability and results. This role owns core forecasting and budgeting workstreams, leads cross-functional collaboration, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve performance and efficiency.

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

Close/Forecast/Budget Management:

• Partner with Accounting and cross-functional business leaders to manage the close process, ensuring accuracy and clarity in variance analysis between forecasted and actual results.
• Lead the development of financial forecasts in collaboration with internal stakeholders and business partners. Evaluate key drivers, risks, and opportunities to deliver accurate, insightful projections that inform strategic decisions.

Financial Reporting:

• Own and evolve key reporting processes and reporting to deliver timely, relevant, and actionable insight on Key Performance Indicators to predict future performance and trends.

Financial Business Support:

• Developing and communicating recommendations to business leaders to drive profitability.
• Support various strategic initiatives by analyzing profitability and financial hurdles throughout the business.
• Ensuring investment and capital allocation decisions are optimized to drive profitable enterprise return.
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve reporting efficiency, and enhance modeling tools.

Ad hoc Analysis:

• Lead ad hoc analyses that support business case development and investment decisions

This role requires six (6) days per month in the Bolingbrook, IL office

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

• Undergraduate degree (Accounting/Finance/Statistics/Math)
• 5 + yrs. relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
• Highly analytical with strong technical and strategic thinking skills.
• Background in compiling data, creating queries, and replicable reports. Power BI experience is a plus.
• Solid problem analysis skills to assess, research, interpret, and analyze complex data.
• Intellectual curiosity and out-of-the-box thinking to deliver analysis and creative solutions.
• Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
• High proficiency and ability to compile data, develop canned reports, and create and analyze spreadsheets.
• Effectively prioritize and manage assignments with time-sensitive deadlines.
• Extremely strong skill set in Excel.
• PowerPoint experience with the ability to present financial data to internal business partners.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Prior budgeting and forecasting experience preferred.
• Experience in Finance in the retail industry is a plus.

The pay range for this position is $77,600.00 - $106,600.00 / Year with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation pursuant to the Company’s bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, level, shift, geographic location, and business and organizational needs. Full-time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. Part-time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
