L3Harris Technologies in Salt Lake City is seeking a Sr. Specialist, PCB Designer to design and document complex printed circuit boards.

You will work with electrical and mechanical engineers to place, route, and verify layouts that meet manufacturing specifications. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years in PCB design, with hands-on experience in Siemens EDA Xpedition and ECAD tools; familiarity with IPC standards and ASME/ANSI for documentation is preferred.

  • Experience with PCB design technologies and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Place and route components ensuring electrical and physical design requirements are met.
  • Ensure manufacturing and assembly requirements are satisfied.
  • Develop drawings and documentation for fabrication and assembly.
  • Rework PCB designs when engineering changes occur and assist with issue resolution.
  • Update drawings per engineering change requests.
  • Create ECAD footprints and schematic symbols as needed.

Job Schedule: 9/80- employees work 9 hours out of 14 days- totaling 80 hours work- and have every other Friday off

Essential Functions:

The PCB Designer will design and create printed circuit board layouts from inputs received from engineering (electrical, mechanical). Job duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Place and route components ensuring that all electrical and physical specifications meet the specific design requirements for each PCB design.
  • Ensure that all requirements for manufacturing and assembly are met.
  • Develop and generate drawings and documentation to facilitate PCB fabrication and assembly.
  • Rework PCB designs when engineering design changes occur and assist the design team with ideas to resolve issues.
  • Perform drawing and documentation updates per the instructions of engineering change requests.
  • Create component ECAD library footprints and/or schematic symbols as required for design projects.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in PCB design, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in PCB design. An associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and/or an IPC CID certification is desired.
  • Competent skills and experience with ECAD software applications and related equipment. Specific experience with Siemens EDA (formerly Mentor Graphics) Xpedition® software is desired.
  • Competent experience and knowledge of PCB design technologies, PCB layout techniques, electrical schematics, PCB fabrication and assembly drawings is desired.
  • Practical knowledge of industry standards such as IPC for design and ASME/ANSI for documentation is desired.
  • IT experience to help with backend management of ECAD tools such as Siemens EDA.
