Job summary

KBR, Inc. in Chantilly, VA seeks an experienced satellite/ground systems engineer to provide technical oversight of SDA Tranche 3 ground segment development, testing, and operations.

You will coordinate requirements, drive system integration, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver mission-critical solutions for national security. The role requires 15+ years in satellite/ground systems, DoD/IC experience, TS/SCI with AI&T background, and a Masters preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15+ years experience with satellite and/or ground system technical and analytic understanding.
  • DoD and IC customer experience is highly valued.
  • TS/SCI clearance with AI&T background for coordination of test plans and data analysis.
  • Masters degree in STEM is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and leadership to SDA Tranche 3 ground segment development, testing, integration, and operations.
  • Coordinate development of satellite system requirements and related enterprise, system, functional, performance, and interface requirements.
  • Resolve highly complex problems requiring multi-aspect consideration.
  • Oversee integration and test of satellites into the SDA ground system network and with other vendors.
  • Assess technical maturity and risk of changes to enable architectural capabilities.
  • Coordinate with Government, Military, SETA, FFRDC and Industry stakeholders and prepare briefings for senior decision makers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical oversight and leadership to SDA Tranche 3 ground segment development, testing, integration, and operations.
  • Coordinate the development of satellite system requirements; develop enterprise, system, functional, performance, and interface requirements; and consider the impact of the satellites’ requirements to the ground system, including ground entry point acquisitions, operations center set up and maintenance, and ground software solutions.
  • Resolve highly complex and multidimensional problems requiring consideration of variables that have multiple aspects of the project/program.
  • Oversee integration and test of satellites into the SDA’s ground system network design and with the other satellite vendors to create a mesh network.
  • Assess technical maturity and risk of necessary changes and updates to ground systems to enable overall architecture capabilities.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (i.e. Government, Military, SETA, FFRDC and Industry) and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare briefings for senior decision makers.
Work Environment

Location: On-site

Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%

Working Hours: Standard 40hrs

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15+ years experience with satellite and/or ground system Technical and analytic understanding of satellite and ground system interaction
  • Experience in systems engineering
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • TS Clearance with SCI Eligibility Must have an AI&T background to “collaborate with engineering and requirements subject matter experts to coordinate, author, review, and revise test plans, test procedures, data management and analysis plans, and test reporting as part of SDA’s test enterprise. Must have experience coordinating logistics for test execution and perform day-of-test activities in support of satellite vehicle and ground system integration.
  • Desired: Masters degree in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline
  • Experience DoD and or IC customers
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
Compensation

Basic Compensation: The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
