Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Senior Sourcing Specialist for Ground Support Equipment and Facilities in McGregor, TX. This role partners with engineering and operations to source equipment and services for test operations and launch systems.

The position requires advanced degree or a bachelor’s with relevant procurement/engineering experience, and travel up to 20%. Onsite work at the McGregor site is required. Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, or supply chain planning.
• 2+ years of experience (or 6+ years) in one or more of: Engineering, Purchasing, Contract negotiation, Material/Production planning, Operations or supply chain management, Material cost control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support GSE, facilities, consumables, capital and construction projects.
• Develop and maintain strategic stakeholder relationships to optimize value of products and services.
• Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk and meet terms for payment, delivery and cost savings.
• Negotiate and manage contracts from RFP through completion ensuring supplier performance meets obligations.
• Identify and execute cost reduction projects with stakeholders and provide updates.
• Oversee quantitative analyses to assess financial impacts and supplier performance.
• Perform business process analyses and develop models to improve cost.
• Conduct market research, benchmarking and analysis.
• Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices.
• Coordinate with planning to move from ad-hoc to planned deliveries.

SR. SOURCING SPECIALIST, GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT & FACILITIES

Overview

We are a progressive procurement organization pushing the boundaries of traditional procurement reputation and methodologies. We are looking for individuals who can think outside the box to achieve company objectives regarding value and partnerships with our suppliers. In this role you will directly support SpaceX’s Texas Test Operations team sourcing equipment and services that are used to develop, test, and validate launch systems for flight. The McGregor site plays an integral part in enabling SpaceX’s unmatched launch cadence, and you will interface directly with our engineering and operations teams to meet quality, delivery, and cost targets for the site.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support Ground Support Equipment (GSE), facilities, consumables, capital and construction projects
• Develop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services
• Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department for payment terms, cash targets, on time delivery and cost savings
• Negotiate and manage contracts from RFP through completion to ensure performance of the supplier meets contract obligations, and understand interrelationships between contracts and terms
• Identify and execute cost reduction projects including planning and coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and providing project updates
• Oversee advanced quantitative analysis to identify financial impacts of decisions and supplier performance
• Perform business process analysis, and develop models to improve cost
• Conduct research; perform benchmarking, and gather market analysis
• Place purchase orders, and resolve blocked invoices
• Coordinate with planning department to identify opportunities to move materials from one-off orders to planned delivery schedules

Basic Qualifications

• Advanced degree; or bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
  • Engineering
  • Purchasing
  • Contract negotiation
  • Material or production planning
  • Operations or supply chain management
  • Material cost control

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Familiarity or experience in indirect procurement, industrial engineering, and/or facilities management
• Experience sourcing Machined Parts, Raw Materials, and Weldments
• Strong budget tracking and cost analytical skills
• Strong contract negotiation and document management skills
• Remarkable problem‑solving skills with a bias for speed

• Ability to communicate outside of work hours
• Must be able to travel – up to 20% of the work week may be required
• This position is based in McGregor, TX and requires being onsite – remote work not considered
