Sr. Sourcing Commodity Manager - Steel & Steel Components

Overview

This role focuses on procuring steel and steel components for the U.S. market. It requires expertise in steel sourcing, understanding of cost drivers, pricing strategies, and global supply chain management, including navigating trade regulations, tariffs, and antidumping duties. Building relationships with steel mills, service centers, and suppliers while ensuring compliance with import/export regulations is essential. Experience with cost modeling, demand forecasting, and risk mitigation in the steel industry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with regional and global objectives.
  • Build strategic alliances with key supply partners.
  • Translate business strategies into technical procurement objectives.
  • Lead new product development buying teams to meet cost, quality, and schedule targets.
  • Manage total cost alignment activities to achieve cost savings.
  • Lead cross-functional sourcing initiatives, cost reduction, and productivity projects.
  • Assess and improve procurement systems and procedures.
  • Anticipate and mitigate supplier-related risks affecting supply and project deliverables.
  • Support supplier rationalization to enhance negotiation leverage.
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ensure conformance to Quality Management System.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business, or related field; Master’s degree or CPM certification is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing procurement teams in manufacturing; 10+ years of procurement experience preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in steel sourcing.
