Amazon is seeking a Sr Solutions Architect for AWS Federal Financials in the Arlington/Herndon area to own technical engagements, guide cloud design and migration, and deliver security best practices to federal financial customers.

You will work with federal teams to design scalable, cost-efficient AWS architectures, present solutions, and share knowledge within the AWS SA community; travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, security, networking, data & analytics.
• 3+ years in design, implementation, or consulting for applications and infrastructures.
• 10+ years IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries.

We are looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing Public Sector practice. The role involves owning the technical engagement around specific implementation projects, providing best practices to customers, developing deep expertise in AWS technologies, and acting as a subject‑matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical engagement for implementation projects and guide clients through design, development, deployment, and migration to cloud environments.
• Provide architecture best practices, security guidance, and operational expertise for customers’ application, server, and network environments.
• Collaborate with sales and business development teams to shape and deliver strategy for broad use of AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront).
• Share and capture best‑practice knowledge within the AWS Solution Architect community.
• Design and create secure, scalable, and cost‑effective cloud computing architectures for federal financial customers.
• Present technical solutions to customers and partners through whiteboards, small and large group presentations.

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics.
• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures.
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience.
• Experience working with end‑user or developer communities.

Additional Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Ability to travel up to 30%.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary ranges: Arlington, VA – $153,600.00 – $207,800.00 annually; Herndon, VA – $153,600.00 – $207,800.00 annually.
