Pilot is a successful startup hiring a senior engineer for our Takeoff team.

All of our teams have unique charters to collectively build the software, services, and systems that enable Pilot to deliver a high-quality experience, profitably, at scale. The Takeoff team is crucial: their goal is building products that enable customers to sign up, onboard, and derive value from Pilot from day one.

Pilot aims to provide customers with the same capabilities as large companies with full finance teams—deep financial insights, machinery for continuous improvement, and predictive planning—delivered through powerful software at a fraction of the cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Building, testing, and deploying software continuously (daily or more often)
• Collaborating with PMs and Product Designers, participating in reviews
• Creating and contributing to technical specifications and rollout plans
• Engaging with internal stakeholders to ensure problem-solving aligns with needs
• Mentoring teammates to support their growth
• Shaping the future of engineering at Pilot across teams
• Supporting software and services as needed

About You

Even if you lack experience with our specific technologies, we’d love to hear from you! Our requirements include:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Production experience with Python
• Ability to work collaboratively across functions
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, technical)
• Ability to write well-structured, tested, and maintainable code
• Proven mentoring and teaching abilities

Additional expertise in accounting, fintech, or related fields is a plus.

The salary range for this senior role is $125,000 - $211,000 in most remote locations, and $156,000 - $211,000 in San Francisco and New York City. Final offers depend on experience, location, and market factors. Full-time roles include equity, benefits, and other perks.
