Salary Range: $165,000-$375,000

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$375,000 plus bonus eligibility and other elements of our total rewards package. The range represents the amount BNSF | tech reasonably expects to pay based on the role's level, scope, and responsibilities. Individual compensation will be determined by the hiring location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. In addition to base pay, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will support and enhance SAP infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments. You’ll contribute to deploying, automating, and integrating SAP landscapes, including SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, scalability, and system reliability. This role is suitable for engineers with experience in SAP or cloud infrastructure seeking to deepen their expertise in enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deploy, configure, and support SAP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, MaxDB, and MS SQL Server.
2. Contribute to the migration and deployment of SAP workloads to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
3. Support SAP BTP integration with SAP and third-party systems, working with services like SAP Integration Suite and SAP Analytics Cloud.
4. Implement automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or Ansible to manage SAP environments and support CI/CD pipelines.
5. Support database replication and real-time data movement using SAP SLT, Data Services, or SAP Data Intelligence under guidance.
6. Contribute to monitoring system performance and availability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and SAP Cloud ALM.
7. Apply SAP security practices including RBAC, encryption, and identity integrations such as SSO or SAP IAS.
8. Support SAP GRC Access Control processes, including user access reviews, audit preparations, and compliance reporting.
9. Manage user provisioning, troubleshoot access issues, and maintain security roles based on business needs.
10. Collaborate with Basis, Security, Development, and Operations teams on infrastructure, security, and system updates.
11. Manage release schedules and coordinate transport deployments across SAP landscapes.
12. Enforce and improve SAP change and release management processes in line with ITIL standards.
13. Maintain documentation and ensure audit compliance for SAP transport activities.
14. Track and resolve transport issues, conflicts, and dependencies within SAP landscapes.
15. Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures for SAP systems and integrations.
16. Troubleshoot infrastructure and integration issues across SAP landscapes with guidance from senior team members.

Basic Qualifications:

• Authorized to work in the US.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years of IT infrastructure experience, with at least 2–3 years in SAP or cloud-based systems.
• Knowledge of SAP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, and supporting databases.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deployment practices.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with SAP integration technologies (SAP Integration Suite, APIs, SLT).
• Understanding of SAP security and system monitoring fundamentals.
• Proficiency in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, BW, and cloud SAP products.
• Deep understanding of RBAC, SoD principles, and SAP audit controls.
• Familiarity with SAP GRC Access Control or similar tools.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or SAP Certified Technology Associate.
• Experience with hybrid SAP landscapes and integrating cloud-native services.
• Exposure to SAP BTP services like SAP Fiori and SAP Analytics Cloud.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
• Experience with open-source monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
• Understanding of real-time data replication or event-driven architectures.
• Experience with SAP TMS, CTS, and SAP S/4HANA upgrade projects.
