The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000 - $375,000 plus bonus eligibility and other elements of our total rewards package. The range represents the amount bnsf | tech reasonably expects to pay for the position based on the level, scope, and responsibilities of the role. Individual compensation and level of position offered is determined by the hiring location and additional factors including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.In addition to base pay, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

As a Sr Software Engineer, you will

  • Develop and maintain user interfaces: Design, implement, and optimize user interfaces for web applications, ensuring they are responsive, efficient, and visually appealing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with designers, product managers, and backend developers to create a cohesive and high-quality product.
  • Enhance application performance: Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations to improve the overall speed and responsiveness of the application.
  • Write clean, maintainable code: Follow best practices for coding standards, version control, and testing to ensure the long-term maintainability of the codebase.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends: Keep abreast of the latest developments in front end technologies, frameworks, and best practices to continually improve the quality of our products.
  • Mentor junior developers: Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Conduct code reviews: Participate in regular code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to established standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • I am CURRENTLY authorized to work in the US.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent education or work experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in front-end development, with demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
  • Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Rail, Shipping, Airline, Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain, or other Transportation industries or experience in a High-Tech industry.
  • Experience with open-source libraries and frameworks.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Proven ability to debug, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks in complex applications.
  • Experience in testing methodologies using frameworks such as BDD.
