Overview

Software engineering roles at OptumCare focus on design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of software to deliver high-quality applications, products, and services. Roles involve translating business needs into technical solutions, driving architecture decisions, and contributing to product roadmaps while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and debug applications and components that meet technical specifications and business requirements per assigned work items.
• Work closely with lead engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts to develop requirements and assist with estimating.
• Instill best practices for software development and documentation, ensure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.
• Operational Excellence – build, deploy, monitor, and operate production services.
• Mentor other software engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or related field and/or relevant experience will be considered.
• Experience with Domain Driven Design.
• Experience with Event Driven Architecture.
• Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Knowledge of Encryption, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), understanding of OWASP.
• Familiarity with GitOps principles (and tools like Flux or Argo CD).
• Familiarity with LeSS / Large Scale Scrum.
• Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot applications running within Kubernetes.
• Advanced understanding of cloud infrastructure and automated provisioning & configuration management.
• Basic understanding of networking and internet protocols.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contribution (eligibility requirements apply). Salary range for this role is $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment.
