Overview

Join to apply for the Sr. Software Engineer, Payments role at VGS.

VGS is the world's leader in payment tokenization, enabling banks, fintechs, and merchants to tokenize sensitive payment data and manage compliance while enabling payments workflows across networks and processors. We provide processor-agnostic tokenization solutions via secure universal token vaults, iframes, mobile SDKs, tokenization proxies, APIs, and data orchestration tooling.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sr. Software Engineer to join us. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining our Credential Management Platform (CMP) and enhancing our Event Pipeline. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and optimize high-throughput, fault-tolerant services within the CMP platform.

We are committed to a remote-first philosophy with hybrid options for those near office locations. We are not about being in the office every day, but value connection, collaboration, and in-person time when possible.

What we are looking for from you (Requirements)

• Deep hands-on expertise (6+ years) in Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Security, etc.) for building high-scale, production-ready microservices in a SaaS company.
• Strong practical experience with Kafka (MSK) or other message brokers for event-driven architectures and high-volume data streams.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture, microservices, CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Argo), GitOps, APIs and API Gateway, Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Python, and AWS services.
• Experience implementing observability solutions (metrics, logging, tracing) using OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and Prometheus to diagnose and resolve production issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus points for familiarity with the payment processing ecosystem (PCI DSS, tokenization, card networks, processors).
