Job summary

Waystar, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain robust software applications. You will contribute to scalable systems, review code, and participate in full SDLC while mentoring juniors.

The role emphasizes modern technologies, cloud platforms, and secure, high-performance solutions in a fast-paced environment. Excellent collaboration and problem-solving are required to succeed on cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed, high-performance systems.
• Strong understanding of OO design, data structures and patterns.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with API design (RESTful, GraphQL) and Git/agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

ABOUT THIS POSITIONPlans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools. Use this position if company does not breakout software development positions such as Software Engineer (Applications) or Software Engineer (Systems) and / or is involved in full stack development. Software development engineers using common development methodologies including Waterfall and Agile should be matched to our software development engineering roles.
