Job summary

Saliense Consulting LLC is hiring a Lead Software Developer for the Office of Naval Research program in Arlington, VA. This 100% onsite role requires a Secret clearance to start and US citizenship or equivalent eligibility.

You will define software architecture, evaluate tools, and lead a development team to deliver high‑quality, secure, and scalable solutions using modern .NET technologies and AWS cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience and a proven full‑lifecycle track record.
• At least 3 years in a lead developer role; strong mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

Description

Saliense is now hiring a Lead Software Developer to lead the design and development of complex software solutions on our program at the Office of Naval Research in Arlington, VA.

This is a position that is100% onsite (5 days/week at the ONR in Arlington).

This position requires a Secret clearance to be able to start work.

US or Naturalized Citizenship are a requirement for eligibility.

The responsibilities for this Lead Full Stack Developer will include:

• Defining and implementingsoftware architecture and design patterns that meet business needs and technical requirements.
• Evaluatingand recommendingtools, technologies, and processes to improve development efficiency and product quality.
• Writing high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code. Leading by example, ensuring that code reviews and quality assurance practices are adhered to.
• Identifying and resolving complex technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and bugs.
• Optimizingsoftware for performance, scalability, and security.
• Will workclosely with the project manager, product owners, and other stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and timelines.
• Identifies potential risks and issues related to software development and implements mitigation strategies. Ensures the PDS project is delivered with minimal disruptions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• 10+ years of professional experience in software development with a proven track record of successfully delivering multiple software projects through the full software lifecycle.
• At least 3 years as a lead developer.
• Active Secret Clearance or current interim
• IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security + or equivalent)
• Computing environment certification (e.g., Server+, Linux+, AWS Certified Developer (or equivalent)

Technical Skills:

• Extensive experience with software design patterns, architecture, and best practices.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, project management tools, and practices.
• Experience with API development.
• Experience with modern development frameworks and tools (e.g., .Net Core, ASP.Net, Identity framework, Entity framework, MVC (Model, View, Controller), Blazor, Fluentui).
• Experience with database management (SQL Server) and data modeling.
• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Experience with AWS Cloud Native Services, CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline, Elastic Container Registry, Elastic Container Service, Elastic Kubernetes Service
• Familiarity with DISA application development STIGs and well versed in DOD information assurance policies and regulation
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate a development team.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality and efficient solutions.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $163,000

The salary range listed for this position is based on multiple factors, including relevant years of experience, education, certifications, specialized skills, security clearance level, and overall alignment with the role’s requirements. The final compensation offered may vary based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
