Job summary

Illumio in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help integrate firewall management security frameworks into our Go-based microservices. You will work across cloud environments such as AWS, focusing on the networking aspects of our stack.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building distributed and scalable software and systems.

Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python (Golang a plus))

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will determine how we integrate firewall management security frameworks into our existing ecosystem using Go / Golang. You will work in cloud environments, such as AWS, focusing on the networking aspects of our tech stack.

Responsibilities

• Develop containerized (micro) services for a distributed multi‑tenant system that processes data and real‑time events and network telemetry from multiple public clouds to provide real‑time insights, visibility, and security recommendations to customers.
• Design services, detail architectures, defend designs, and deliver robust implementations.
• Mentor junior engineers, new‑grads, and interns.
• Own critical features and subsystems, managing the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment and usage.
• Own operational aspects, writing maintainable software and ensuring high code quality with early developer testing and functional/integration testing.
• Partner with Product Management to refine requirements exceeding customer expectations.
• Develop deep understanding of customer problems through stakeholder interaction.

Benefits

Full‑time position with compensation range $170K – $196K, on‑site in Sunnyvale, CA (hybrid: 2 days in office/week).
