Senior Software Engineer | Direct Hire | Chicago, IL (Hybrid) | Investment Management

We are partnering with a Chicago-based client seeking a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about software design, object-oriented architecture, and domain modeling. This role focuses on solving complex business problems, working with sophisticated data models, designing elegant software abstractions, and delivering scalable, intuitive APIs.

Success in this role requires more than technical expertise. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, challenge assumptions, and develop a deep understanding of the investment business, data ecosystem, and foundational platforms that support enterprise applications.

Location & Employment Requirements

• Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in the Chicago office

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop foundational services and APIs that provide access to investment, financial, operational, and reference data across the enterprise.

Preferred Experience

• Financial services, asset management, investment management, or private markets.
• Familiarity with investment data, including funds, portfolios, transactions, valuations, accounting, cash flows, and performance metrics.
• Experience building enterprise platforms or shared services used across multiple applications and teams.
• Knowledge of enterprise data platforms, data warehousing, messaging/event-driven architectures, CQRS, distributed systems, and performance optimization.
