Job summary

Evolent is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of complex, scalable software solutions. You will architect high-performance APIs and microservices, and collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

The role emphasizes cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), database design for SQL and NoSQL, and mentoring teammates to uphold technical excellence while advancing CI/CD

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience delivering complex, scalable applications.
• Proficiency in C# or Python and familiarity with their ecosystems.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and RESTful API design.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Database design and optimization for SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to lead technical discussions.
• Ability to identify ambiguity and reduce ambiguity proactively.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of complex software solutions, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
• Architect and implement high-performance APIs and microservices that support critical business functions.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX designers, and other engineers, to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to best coding practices.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Identify and implement improvements to the software development lifecycle, including automation, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, working to ensure high availability and reliability of services.
• Evaluate and integrate new tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve development processes and team productivity.
• Drive the technical vision for projects, contributing to architectural discussions and long-term planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, scalable applications.
• Proficiency in C# or Python and familiarity with their ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of software architecture patterns, such as microservices, event-driven architecture, and RESTful API design.
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
• Expertise in database design and optimization for both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions, present to stakeholders, and write detailed documentation.
• Ability to identify ambiguity and proactively work to reduce and resolve ambiguity.

Preferred

• Experience related to HL7 FHIR. Understanding resource-first FHIR patterns. Comfortable reading FHIR implementation guides.
• Experience in healthcare data domains such as providers, members, prior authorizations, and claims.

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $120,000 - 140,000. As part of our total compensation package, Evolent is proud to offer comprehensive benefits (including health insurance benefits) to qualifying employees. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts.
