Apex Systems is seeking a Senior Java Full Stack Engineer to join our St. Louis team. The role is hybrid with four days onsite and potential remote consideration.

You will design and implement microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and TypeScript, and build cloud-native apps on AWS including ECS, EKS, Lambda, and RDS. Responsibilities include modernization, debt reduction, feature development, architecture collaboration, and robust test automation.

This role is for an individual who enjoys practical engineering work and thrives in a fast-paced environment focused on innovation and reliability. The engineer will join a team responsible for enhancing large-scale financial and transaction processing applications within an Agile environment, contributing across application design, development, modernization, automation, and production support.Key Responsibilities* Design, develop, and maintain microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and TypeScript, supporting event-driven and RESTful integration patterns.* Build and enhance cloud-native applications deployed within AWS environments, including services like ECS, EKS, Lambda, and RDS.* Contribute to modernization efforts by addressing technical debt, upgrading dependencies, and refactoring, alongside new feature development.* Partner with enterprise architects and scrum teams to translate architectural vision into practical, scalable solutions.* Apply reusable patterns and best practices, and participate in architecture reviews and code reviews to ensure consistency.* Ensure comprehensive test automation using UI testing and behavior-driven development (BDD) approaches.* Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and support critical business applications.* Document designs, articulate complex ideas, and share knowledge effectively with the team.Required Qualifications* 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on hands-on development.* Advanced proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.* Experience building solutions in AWS, including services like ECS/EKS and Lambda.* Front-end development experience with Angular and TypeScript.* Demonstrated background in microservices architecture, including the modernization of legacy applications.* Strong technical writing, documentation, and problem-solving skills.* Demonstrated comfort with AI-enabled tools and a willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies.* U.S. Citizenship.Preferred Qualifications* Experience working in regulated or security-focused environments.* A track record of reducing technical debt through dependency upgrades, refactoring, and test automation.* Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI/CD, including artifact management and security scanning.* Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CDK or CloudFormation.* Familiarity with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, and OpenSearch. *Everforth Apex is a world-class IT services company that serves thousands of clients across the globe.
