Job summary

Scientific Research Corporation seeks a senior software lead to drive the development of RF emitter products using modern C++ within an Agile Scrum team. You will mentor engineers, guide design, integration, testing, and deployment, and coordinate with on-site customer integration efforts.

The role requires a strong Linux background (RedHat preferred), experience with parallelism, and a track record leading software teams in defense or government-related projects; U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science with 10+ years of experience, or Master's with 8+ years, or Ph.D. with relevant experience
• Strong background in software engineering activities: design, development, debugging, integration, testing, deployment
• Experience leading a software development team
• Deep understanding of Linux OS; RedHat experience desired
• Knowledge of parallelism, concurrency, or threading in distributed environments
• Experience with build systems such as Make and CMake
• Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies and practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills and conflict resolution in a team environment
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance (Secret/Top Secret eligibility)

Responsibilities

• Lead software development for RF emitter products within an Agile Scrum team

• Assist with software reviews to ensure quality and bug-free behavior

Description

• Performing as task lead for the software development of Radio Frequency (RF) emitter products and solutions
• Developing software using modern C++ for development of Radio Frequency (RF) emitter products and solutions
• Performing as part of an Agile Scrum development team (5-10 member) that uses modern C++ for the development of Radio Frequency (RF) emitter products and solutions
• Responsible for assisting with the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs and software-intensive systems
• Participating in the software project-level testing strategy and coordinating with the testing team to ensure new features are thoroughly tested
• Participating in on-site customer integration efforts and test events
• Assisting with software reviews to ensure software meets desired quality standards, is free from bugs, and behaves as intended
• Mentoring junior software engineers to facilitate skill and knowledge development through informal opportunities, such as coaching or offering advice, and formal training opportunities

Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science and at least ten years' work-related experience or a master's degree in engineering or computer science and eight years' work-related experience or a Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have a strong background in Software Engineering activities to include research, design, development, debugging, integration, testing, and deployment
• Must have experience leading a software development team
• Must have a strong understanding of the Linux Operating System, significant RedHat experience is desired
• Must have a good understanding of parallelism, concurrency, or threading in a distributed environment
• Must have a good working knowledge of build systems such as Make and CMake
• Must have experience with Agile Scrum methodologies and practices
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must have good interpersonal skills and be capable of conflict resolution in a team environment
• Candidate must possess a Secret clearance or be eligible to obtain one

Desired Skills

• At least 8 years of modern C++ (C++11 or newer) development
• Some experience with user interface (UI) design and developing workflows that provide a good user experience (UX)
• Experience with small-scale distributed systems with latency restrictions
• Experience within the Atlassian suite and GitLab
• Experience with DevOps, including continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines
• Working knowledge of Cyber Security principles, STIG processes and working through Risk Management Framework(s)
• Experience with range interfaces such as LMOC, TBCF, XLCC, etc.
• Experience in network architecture and implementations
