Job summary

KBR, Inc is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to support GED and related offices within the Intelligence Community for high-end software design, development, testing, and deployment. The role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on hardware, software, and data systems to meet mission requirements in a contingent position.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
  • DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher: (CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, CCNA OR SSCP)
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, object-oriented design, architecture, coding, and testing, with substantial experience implementing DevOps practices including CI/CD automation, containerization, orchestration, configuration management, security, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with Web Services and JavaScript (e.g., ReactJS).
  • Container based application development experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to achieve customer and company goals.
  • Supervisory experience for a team of engineers.
  • Hands‑on experience with Java, C/C++, and/or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities associated with the design, development, implementation, maintenance, configuration management and quality control of software for scientific/engineering applications.
  • Define system and software requirements and obtain customer approval.
  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into a design.
  • Create prototypes.
  • Implement Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teams.
  • Identify potential roadblocks and develop software solutions where the solution is not always well defined.
  • Work to improve performance metrics through critical planning and execution of development tasks.
  • Respond to and resolve software discrepancies against documented requirements.
  • Work with a team to define software requirements.
  • Generate program design language and code based on department standards.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software systems for our customers.
  • Determine software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements on department standards.
  • Generate/update documents defining software product baselines.
  • Explore new areas or program in new languages to deliver a complete product.
  • Support on‑site meetings and deliveries to customers.
  • Lead junior engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

KBR is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join our team and provide Systems Engineer Technical Advisor (SETA) support for the Intelligence Community Customer Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED). GED plays a critical role in enabling the Intelligence Community Customer to plan and execute intelligence-gathering missions, transforming collected data into useful information for the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) users. In this role, you will have the chance to design, develop, test, and deliver products that support our customers’ advanced systems. In support of GED Front Office, Chief Architect, Integrated Intelligence Program Office, Advanced Ground Office, and Enterprise Data Applications and Platforms. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams focused on hardware, software, system integration, and data analysis to help achieve important missions and meet requirements. This is a contingent position based upon contract award.

  • Contractor Product Owner (with >10 years of experience in software management and managing a backlog of requirements).
  • Experience with Neural Networks/Machine Learning.
Basic Compensation

$156,400 – $215,100 annum (This range is for the VA area only) The rate offered will be based on the selected candidate’s work location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, contract affordability and consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
