John Deere is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for its Urbana-Champaign, IL campus. You will join a product team, coach part-time student developers, and help translate the digital roadmap into actionable user stories.

The role requires 5+ years in large system development, experience with Java, JavaScript, React, Node, Python, cloud technologies, and NoSQL databases; onsite position with competitive pay and benefits.

Your Responsibilities

As a Sr. Software Engineer for John Deere World Headquarters located in Urbana-Champaign, IL, you will:

Serve as a Technical Coach for the group of Part Time Students associated with John Deere’s Manufacturing Business Capability Area.
Provide technical guidance and advice to the student employees to achieve their assigned User Stories.
Participate in maintaining an ongoing relationship between Deere and UIUC to help promote the John Deere Innovation Lab and grow the future talent pipeline.
Additionally you will be assigned to a product team and contribute in user stories aligned with the Digital Product Roadmap of the team.

What Skills You Need

• 5 or more years of large system development experience.
• Experience with modern technology stack, including: Java, JavaScript, React, Node, Python, Terraform, Github, Github Actions.
• Experience with varying database technologies, including relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with cloud hosting and cloud provider technologies.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (certification preferred).
• Experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain supporting functions.
• Experience mentoring others.

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related area of study.

$109,284.00 - $163,920.00 + Benefits
