The Company
PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards. Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other. We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do – and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

Job Description Summary:
As an Engineer on the EA team, your always-learning mindset will be your greatest strength. The Enterprise Architecture team is always supporting a defined number of high-impact initiatives and you will be pulled in to help with data crunching and POCs for those as the need arises. EA also envisions meeting the needs of PYPL internally with a limited number of homegrown tools, which you will directly design and build. You’ll report to the Head of Product for Enterprise Architecture and be a critical contributor of ideas that shape our direction. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, gets quickly to the root of a problem, and works well independently.

Job Description:
Meet our team

You’ll be joining a highly focused Enterprise Architecture team that is small in size but plays a pivotal role in defining the technology strategy of the company. Our team works closely with business leaders across various portfolios, translating strategic priorities into technical imperatives that shape our platforms' future. You will get to contribute to PYPL’s technical strategy, and work with the most senior engineers at the company – therefore building your own internal network and opening up future opportunities for your career.

Your way to impact

As the Engineer Lead on the Enterprise Architecture Delivery Team, you will design, build, and maintain robust software tools that empower teams to work smarter, collaborate effectively, and gain insights into complex systems. Through your efforts, you'll contribute to solving enterprise-wide challenges like organizing critical product information, building visualization tools to enhance team alignment, and improving architecture governance processes. These tools will impact the daily workflows of engineers, architects, and business leaders across PayPal, enabling greater transparency, collaboration, and operational efficiency.

You will play a key role in shaping how information is organized, shared, and utilized across the company and will work closely with the Lead Product Manager, Enterprise Architects, and engineers from various teams to deliver high-impact solutions.

Your day-to-day

  • Design, develop, and maintain innovative tools and applications in collaboration with the Lead Product Manager and Engineering Lead that enhance information organization, improve team collaboration, and facilitate effective decision-making across Enterprise Architecture and broader teams.
  • Work with large-scale data sources (e.g., GitHub repositories, Jira roadmaps) to create products such as a product inventory app, visual team organization maps, and architecture forum facilitation tools.
  • Leverage AI models and emerging technologies to optimize workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and accelerate development cycles, ensuring the team delivers high-impact solutions efficiently.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, manage technical challenges, and deliver scalable, user-friendly tools that meet strategic goals and align with enterprise needs.
  • Solve complex technical problems with creativity and precision while adhering to strong coding standards and best practices.
  • Maintain a culture of ownership, curiosity, and accountability, focusing on results and driving progress in an agile and iterative environment.

What Do You Need To Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development, preferably full-stack development.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and propose creative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, collaborating with non-technical stakeholders as well as engineers and architects.
  • Results-oriented approach; you take ownership of the end-to-end development lifecycle—from concept to deployment.
  • Experience withdata integration tools, such as pulling and aggregating data from APIs like GitHub, Jira, or similar.
