Sr. Software Development Engineer, Emerging Device Software

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Sr. Software Development Engineer to join Amazon’s Smart Eyewear initiative on the Emerging Devices Software team. This is a unique opportunity to work on a category defining product that is at the intersection of mobile, cloud, and wearable technology.

Smart Eyewear is an emerging product category with the potential to redefine how customers interact with technology in their daily lives. You’ll design and build mobile and cloud software that integrates seamlessly with Smart Eyewear hardware, delivering best-in-class user experiences to customers around the world.

You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, UX designers, and QA to design and develop features from concept to launch. You’ll take ownership of systems, components, make design decisions, and contribute to the scalability, reliability, and performance of our systems.

You’ll also have opportunities to work with and receive guidance from Principal Engineers and Sr. Principal Engineers, gaining exposure to system-level thinking, engineering best practices, and long-term technical direction.

Key job responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain features for mobile applications (Android/iOS/React Native) and/or cloud services
- Own key components of the system, contributing to architecture, implementation, and long-term maintainability
- Write high-quality, well-tested code that meets production standards
- Participate in technical design reviews, sprint planning, and project execution
- Collaborate with product, UX, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver high-impact features
- Investigate and resolve complex issues across the device-mobile-cloud stack
- Contribute to continuous improvement of team processes, tools, and engineering practices

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- - Experience with iOS or Android application development
- - Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
- - Familiarity with REST APIs, CI/CD workflows, and scalable system design
- - Ability to work in a high-ambiguity, dynamic problem space
- - Exposure to cross-platform development, device integration, or consumer hardware
- - Demonstrated ability to take ownership and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
- - Demonstrated strengths in engineering excellence and in operational excellence

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
