Job summary

Redfin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Platform Engineering team to shape how frontend engineers build, test, and ship software. You will own frontend platform infra powering ~30 React apps, including build tooling, testing, CI/CD, and developer experience integrations.

You’ll drive AI tooling integration and improve daily engineering productivity across hundreds of engineers, with emphasis on reducing toil and enabling scalable, reliable frontend delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of frontend or full-stack development experience with a focus on developer tooling and platform engineering.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Experience building and maintaining scalable CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience integrating AI tools into frontend development workflows.
• Familiarity with containerized workflows and observability tooling.

As a Senior Software Engineer for a team in the Platform Engineering organization, you'll shape how Redfin's frontend engineers build, test, and ship software. This specific team owns the frontend platform infrastructure that powers ~30 React applications — the build tooling, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and developer experience integrations that let teams focus on delivering customer value instead of fighting their tools. You won't just be writing code; you'll be multiplying the productivity of the entire frontend engineering organization.

About the Role

• Drive significant improvements to and ensure the reliability of core frontend infrastructure: build tooling, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and build generative AI tooling to accelerate frontend code creation, testing, and deployment.
• Support engineering productivity by reducing toil, eliminating friction, and establishing scalable best practices across multiple frontend teams.
• Research and champion forward-thinking solutions for frontend developer experience, leveraging or introducing new technologies as needed.
• Support the implementation roadmap for core platform infrastructure, working with stakeholders to resolve technical debt and propose scalable solutions.

About You

• You have 5+ years of experience in frontend or full-stack development, specializing in developer tooling, platform engineering, or infrastructure, with deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• You are familiar with leveraging and optimizing testing frameworks including: Jest, Vitest, Playwright, visual regression testing) and familiarity with building/maintaining scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar.
• You have experience integrating Rust-based tools into existing JS frameworks.
• You have implemented team-wide AI tools to speed up development, debug processes, and improve scalability for front end development.
• You are familiar with containerized workflows (Docker), observability/monitoring tools (Datadog or similar), and AI code generation tools (e.g., Claude Code). (all FE dev happens in container)
• You have a proven ability to navigate ambiguity, communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, drive technical consensus across teams, and manage priorities within large, complex codebases.

On-Call Expectations

This role may include participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems and ensure service reliability. On-call responsibilities may include coverage during nights and weekends. If applicable, frequency and scheduling will be determined by team needs and communicated accordingly.
