Aptos Retail is seeking a highly capable Data/AI Engineer to design and deploy AI-driven analytics tools that empower retailers. You will build robust data pipelines, optimize AI retrieval systems, and collaborate across Product, QA, DevOps and Implementation Services to translate complex business needs into actionable analytics.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering or machine learning engineering with at least one year of hand‑on experience with AI.
• Proven experience with orchestration frameworks and vector databases.
• Experience with modern databases (Snowflake, SQL Server) and data transformation tools.

Responsabilidades

• Design, implement and maintain custom LLM agents.
• Build the semantic layer and semantic views for AI agents.
• Create RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines to democratize data access across the organization.
• Create and optimize production-grade data pipelines that feed ML models and vector databases.
• Deploy AI applications to cloud infrastructure and monitor model drift, latency, costs and hallucination rates.
• Evaluate, benchmark and tune prompt strategies, embedding models and vector search parameters.
• Write SQL queries to validate AI agent responses.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps and Implementation Services to translate business requirements into AI features.
• Collaborate with other engineering managers to align standards and platform initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Develop AI-Driven Analytics Tools

• Design, implement and maintain custom LLM agents
• Fundamental knowledge in building the semantic layer and semantic views for our agents
• Ability to build RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines to democratize data access across the organization.

Build Robust Data Pipelines

• Create and optimize production-grade data pipelines that feed clean, structured and contextualized data into machine learning models and vector databases. Deploy AI applications to cloud infrastructure and set up monitoring to track model drift, latency, costs and hallucination rates.

Optimize AI & Retrieval Systems

• Evaluate, benchmark, and fine-tune prompt strategies, embedding models and vector search parameters to ensure high accuracy and low latency
• Ability to build queries in SQL to validate the accuracy of the AI agent response

Collaboration Cross-Functionally

• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, DevOps, and Implementation Services to translate complex business requirements, metrics and analytical needs into technical AI features
• Strong SQL knowledge
• Collaborate with other engineering managers to align standards, practices, and platform initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 4+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering or machine learning engineering with at least one year of hand‑on experience with AI
• Proven experience with orchestration frameworks and vector databases
• Experience with modern databases (Snowflake, SQL Server) and data transformation tools

• SQL: proficient in writing SQL statements
• Data Modelling: A good understanding of modelling techniques
