Job summary

Peraton is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer for a remote role supporting a defense customer and utilizing SAFe processes. You will design, develop, test, and deploy software across the full SDLC, leveraging AWS cloud capabilities and DevOps methods, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to meet performance and security requirements.

The ideal candidate brings full‑stack Java experience, strong CI/CD expertise, and knowledge of modern software architectures.

Qualifications

  • Education: 12 years with a BS/BA, or 10 years with an MS/MA, or 8 years with a PhD.
  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, specifically using AWS services (Microservices, Lambda, SQS/SNS, S3, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, etc.), Git, and popular CI/CD tools.
  • Experience modernizing an IT system or program and transforming it to the cloud.
  • Experience with CI/CD automation and/or DevSecOps practices to increase delivery velocity.
  • Experience manipulating XML payloads to conform to predefined XSD schemas.
  • Experience developing web services / RESTful APIs and API integration.
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence; developing user stories and identifying features based on client requirements.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies, Kanban framework, and Waterfall.
  • Professional full‑stack development experience with Java as a core competency.
  • Professional experience with the AWS ecosystem and implementation of cloud‑native software solutions on AWS.
  • Required certification: Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II (can be obtained after starting the program).
  • Desired skills: AWS Developer Associate certification, PaaS and CaaS platform implementation, foundation experience with Docker/Kubernetes, Spring Boot, PKI, Go, XML, XSD, JSON, PostgreSQL, and RESTful API backend development.

  • Design, develop and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Coordinate software testing and deployment to ensure specifications are met.
  • Assist the Scrum Master and Scrum Team in providing technical expertise in executing contract deliverables.
  • Provide support to the Chief Enterprise Architect, Release Train Engineer, Senior Leadership, and the client with regard to software development best practices.
  • Support Quality Assurance and Quality Control verification within all applicable phases of software development to assure all actions are completed in accordance with appropriate policy, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with government Product Owners, cross‑functional teams, and client vendors to support rapid integration and interoperability of software.
  • Ensure the quality of all services and deliverables across the contract.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and compliance with all government and corporate policies.

Salary & Benefits

Target Salary Range: $135,000 – $216,000.
