Job summary

Amazon Music Catalog team in Seattle is seeking a senior software engineer to own the technical direction for major features in our developer experience portfolio. You will guide engineering practices across the codebase and infrastructure while mentoring SDE 1 and SDE 2 engineers and collaborating with Principal Engineers on architecture.

You will help build automation, design scalable APIs, and scale GenAI/ML solutions in production, partnering with Applied Scientists, PMs, and other engineers

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in one or more software languages.
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of systems with emphasis on design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
  • Experience mentoring others, serving as a tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
  • Experience developing and deploying LLMs in production on GPUs, Neuron, TPU, or similar AI acceleration hardware.
  • Strong grasp of ML and LLM fundamentals, including architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and model execution optimization.
  • 5+ years of full SDLC experience including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent background.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical direction for major features and products within our developer experience portfolio.
  • Set engineering best practices and guide technical choices across codebase and infrastructure.
  • Mentor SDE 1 and SDE 2 engineers by conducting design reviews and offering hands-on support.
  • Partner with Principal Engineers to solve complex problems and align on architecture.
  • Build automation that reduces toil and improves developer productivity.
  • Design APIs and frameworks that other teams can use to create productivity solutions.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and operationally excellent.
  • Develop, deploy, and scale GenAI and ML solutions in production.
  • Own model-building efforts for production and deliver AI/ML outputs into systems and services.
  • Collaborate with Applied Scientists, SDEs, PMs, and TPMs.
  • Work with teams to understand pain points and requirements.
  • Validate technical approaches with Principal Engineers and incorporate feedback.
  • Shape roadmaps with managers and senior engineers and prioritize initiatives.
  • Influence technical decisions across partner teams.
  • Present designs and results to leadership and stakeholders.
