JOB SUMMARY

Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is hiring a Senior Shop Diesel Technician to support our growth. If you're seeking a new opportunity, we would love to speak with you! The Senior Shop Diesel Technician performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and advanced repairs, diagnostics, and other duties. They are relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complex repairs, working closely with Shop Diesel Technician I/II. The successful candidate adheres to all policies and strives for high performance metrics.

DUTIES

• Follow and comply with safety practices and procedures.
• Determine parts needed and coordinate with the Parts Department.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, assisting in cleanup daily.
• Apply knowledge from training and experience to perform tasks, understanding technical information.
• Work with Service Writers to assess customer needs and provide assistance.
• Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and allocate time efficiently.
• Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on various vehicles.
• Occasionally travel to customer locations for work.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
• Use hand tools, diagnostic instruments, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
• Document work performed, parts used, and observations via company devices and applications.
• Complete DOT and other forms accurately and promptly.
• Maintain productivity and adhere to standard repair times.
• Communicate with managers and support teams regarding repairs and approvals.
• Comply with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations like OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
• Participate in safety training and maintain shop safety checks.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, and engine systems.
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems and components.
• Support diagnostics and parts procurement for complex repairs.

REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma/GED with 5 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
• Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Pass DOT background screening and physical; a valid DOT medical card is required.
• Must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid CDL-A driver’s license.

• ASE T8 (PMI) and ASE 608/609 certifications within 18 months.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS

• ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, and L1 certifications.
