JOB SUMMARY
We are currently hiring a Sr. Shop Diesel Technician to support our growth. The Sr. Shop Diesel Technician performs licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, diagnostics, and other duties. This role is crucial for advanced diagnostics and triage of complex repairs, working closely with Shop Diesel Technician I/II. The ideal candidate complies with all policies and achieves high performance metrics.
DUTIES
- Follow and comply with all safety practices and procedures.
- Determine parts needed for each job and coordinate with the Parts Department.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, assisting with cleanup daily.
- Apply knowledge from training and experience to perform job duties; evaluate technical information.
- Work with Service Writers to assess customer needs and resolve issues.
- Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and allocate time efficiently.
- Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards.
- Perform scheduled PMs, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on various vehicle sizes.
- Occasionally travel to perform work at customer locations.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and battery checks.
- Use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, welding tools, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work, parts used, and findings using company devices and applications.
- Accurately complete DOT and other documentation promptly.
- Maintain high productivity within standard repair times.
- Communicate with management and support teams regarding repairs and approvals.
- Work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- Complete safety training as required.
- Maintain shop service trucks, conduct safety checks, and perform pre/post-trip inspections.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, brake, cooling, engine, transmission, and other systems.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and recommend solutions.
- Support diagnostics for complex repairs and assist other technicians.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Complete all company-mandated training.
- Pass a DOT-regulated background check and physical prior to employment.
- Possess a valid DOT medical card or provide current one.
- Be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
- Have a valid driver’s license; undergo a 3-year MVR review.

- Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for long periods.
- Communicate effectively and organize information clearly.
- Select appropriate tools and evaluate objects’ distances accurately.
- Use logic and reasoning to analyze problems and solutions.
CERTIFICATIONS
- ASE T8 (PMI) certification (required within 18 months)
- ASE 608/609 certification (required within 18 months)
- Preferred: ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, L1 certifications
