Sr. Security Systems Engineer, DCE Security Solutions Engineering

Data Center Engineering (DCE) - Security Solutions Engineering team is seeking a highly talented and motivated Security Systems Engineer. Responsibilities include designing, configuring, and troubleshooting networked security systems such as IP surveillance cameras, access control systems, intrusion detection systems, and other security-facing systems. The role requires a blend of technical network expertise and a deep understanding of physical security technology and industry standards. The scope involves complex integrations of security systems across multiple teams within and outside the organization. The Security Systems Engineer will lead security video monitoring technology in our data centers and manage the conversion of business requirements into system specifications for cameras and video monitoring solutions.

AWS Infrastructure Services manages the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continuous service. The team works on challenging problems, impacting the supply chain, and is looking for talented individuals to contribute.

You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and others. Collaboration across AWS will be vital to maintain high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at low cost. Key job responsibilities

1. Lead the design and implementation of network layouts for physical security systems, ensuring performance and reliability.
2. Work closely with electrical, network, and physical security engineers to configure and maintain network devices and software related to security systems, including IP cameras, NVRs, access control, and peripheral devices.
3. Integrate security devices into existing networks while maintaining security protocols.
4. Support ingestion of new Security IoT devices into the AWS DCE Security Solutions lab for evaluation, testing, and deployment, collaborating with internal teams.
5. Conduct system audits and update documentation as needed.
6. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network-related security issues.
7. Stay updated with industry trends and technologies in networking and physical security.
8. Lead development of standard operating procedures and training for data center technicians on new hardware/software related to cameras and video systems.
9. Participate in system engineering and design reviews, guiding electrical and mechanical engineers during collaboration and concept engineering.
10. Manage projects from concept to deployment, working with vendors and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Security, or related field.
• 10+ years in security systems, integration, hardware development, or similar roles.
• 10+ years in IP networking, TCP/IP protocols, and related architecture.
• 5+ years in communication protocols used in physical security (RS-485, RTSP, UDP).
• 5+ years in enterprise security systems (Access Control, Video Management, Intrusion Detection, Mass Notification).

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree, professional security certifications (PSP, CPP, CISSP), experience with data center security, knowledge of building management systems, AutoCAD, cloud security, API integration, leadership experience, CPTED certification, knowledge of industry standards, project management skills, and strong communication skills.
