Job summary

SPAN, headquartered in San Francisco, is seeking a hands-on, autonomous Sr. Software Engineer, Security to drive SPAN’s software security initiatives across the platform and backend ecosystem.

You will architect, develop, and deploy security tooling and infrastructure, lead vulnerability remediation, and oversee cloud security hardening in AWS. Ideal candidates have 6+ years in security engineering, strong IAM knowledge, and production-grade backend experience in Python, Java, or Node.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in security engineering, application security, or DevSecOps.
• Strong understanding of IAM protocols (OIDC, SAML, OAuth).
• Expertise securing AWS environments and cloud infrastructure.
• Production-grade coding in Python, Java, or Node.
• Ability to architect security tooling and DevSecOps pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and build automated security tools and guardrails for developers.
• Triage and remediate vulnerabilities across the backend stack.
• Lead cloud security hardening for AWS production environments.
• Conduct threat modeling and security reviews for new features.
