Position responsible for assisting with the protection, security, and promotion of safety at a Memorial Hermann Hospital campus.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (if not certified upon hire, must obtain within six months)
- Licensed as a Commissioned Security Officer by the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau (if not licensed upon hire, must obtain within 90 days)
- Valid driver’s license (out-of-state applicants must obtain a Texas Driver’s license within 90 days)
- May be required to meet Security Services requirements to carry a firearm based on business need
- Certified in Heartsaver CPR or Heartcode BLS CPR by the American Heart Association (if not certified upon hire, must obtain within 90 days)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Minimum of three (3) years of security-related experience with demonstrated leadership abilities or equivalent combination of supervisory experience and higher education.
- Knowledge of Texas Penal Code, security reports and investigations, and JCAHO security standards.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in computer use.
Principal Accountabilities
- Supervises shift security operations in the absence of the Lead Security Officer.
- Assists with supervision of assigned personnel; conducts site post inspections; reviews performance; conducts roll calls; provides briefings for relieving supervisory personnel.
- Performs security duties to maintain safety; responds to security and emergency situations; assists patients, visitors, and staff; provides directions and security assistance.
- Understands and complies with hospital, department policies, procedures, and post orders.
- Operates and cares for security equipment; reports equipment failures; maintains knowledge of security and emergency systems.
- Ensures the safety of patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all policies and standards within budgetary constraints.
- Supports professional growth through mandatory/continuing education; acts as preceptor and mentor.
- Models compassionate, personalized care; demonstrates Memorial Hermann’s service standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
