Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Role Overview

Have you wanted an opportunity to secure an advanced satellite-based broadband telecom service? The Kuiper Security team owns the security of product and operations of Project Kuiper end-to-end. We provide the necessary infrastructure and mechanisms to ensure the security of our satellite constellation and to protect the integrity and confidentiality of our customer data. Our team drives the research & development, deployment, and operation of several mission-critical security systems and mechanisms. You will work in a start-up-like environment, backed by Amazon’s infrastructure to bootstrap security mechanisms, and help instill a security culture in the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish product-specific security bar, threat models, and security priorities to ensure consistent security execution.
• Identify design & implementation defects; support product development with security consultation.
• Collaborate with business leaders to define security priorities and act as a trusted advisor.
• Assess technical debt and risks, providing strategic direction to address vulnerabilities.
• Guide teams towards secure-by-default solutions; invent & propose new solutions if needed.
• Enable teams to become proactive & self-sufficient on security; mentor security advocates & engineers.
• Assist Red Teams in security testing, scoping penetration tests, and investigating emerging issues.
• Propose a security vision that protects our customers.
• Engage in cutting-edge security research and development.

Qualifications

Basic:

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years delivering security software in production.
• 5+ years in distributed software systems (Python, Java, Rust, GoLang, C/C++).
• 3+ years in cloud-native environments.
• 3+ years developing for Linux.

Preferred:

• Experience in security assessments, security tools development, and vulnerability management.
• Master's in information security preferred.
• Strong analytical skills, familiarity with satellite communications, and embedded systems experience are advantageous.
