Job Summary
Provides support for external reporting process and performs other various accounting responsibilities to ensure compliance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange (SEC) regulations, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Prepare documentation and assist with execution of procedural and key controls related to external reporting
- Manage the planning, coordinating and compiling of data with which to complete annual or quarterly financial statements and related deliverables for CSX Corporation and serving as the key contact for internal and external auditors
- Responsible for the management and compilation of the quarterly financial report (QFR) that is filed externally along with the earnings release as well as tie-out of accompanying materials such as earnings slides and scripts
- Provide support for the treasury, finance and investor relations functions, including registration statements, financing transactions, earnings releases, analyst and rating agency presentations and other distributions of financial information
- Assist with monthly and quarterly close procedures and reconciliations
- Research and summarize new SEC pronouncements and participate in special accounting research projects as necessary
- Provide support to SOX control owners throughout the Accounting organization and other business functions, including assisting with the design, documentation, and monitoring of internal controls as well as facilitating communication with internal and external audit
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 3 or more years of experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate Degree
- 5 or more years of experience
- Audit background
Knowledge and Skills
- Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel and Word)
- Knowledge of GAAP and SEC requirements
- Ability to organize, multi-task, work independently and co-manage a process
- Knowledge of SOX regulatory standards
- Exceptional grammar and writing skills
