Job summary

Northern Base is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to drive testing across Internet and eCommerce projects. You will design test strategies, develop automation, and validate backend services using REST tooling.

The role requires strong JavaScript, Node.js and Java programming skills, plus hands-on CI/CD and Docker experience in an Agile setting. You will collaborate with architects and developers to ensure scalable quality across releases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in quality assurance and testing with automation
• Proficient in JavaScript, Node.js and Java programming
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
• Hands-on testing of back-end services using REST APIs and automation tools

Responsibilities

• Participate in the application technical design process with Application Architects on Internet and eCommerce projects
• Test web services using SOAP UI or equivalent
• Understand queues, topics, JSON, and XML data formats
• Contribute to web services system testing across lifecycle phases
• Develop and maintain QA procedures, processes, and best practices
• Create test plans and test cases with appropriate test data
• Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency
• Contribute to test automation scripting standards
• Understand SOA architecture and write automation scripts for peer reviews

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills

• 5 years' experience of quality assurance and testing as well as developing automation frameworks and automated tests
• 3 years programming experience in JavaScript, Node JS, Java
• 2 years' experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Experience with back end services automated testing using frameworks such as such as REST Assured and Karate
• Experience with back end services automated testing tools such as REST Assured and Supertest
• Experience with application life cycle management tools. Atlassian Jira preferred
• Hands-on experience in setting up continuous integration (CI) build environments
• using TeamCity, Gitlab or a comparable solution
• Hands on experience in source control with GIT
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks like J-Unit and Test NG
• Familiarity with containerization software such as Docker
• Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
• Demonstrated experience designing and architecting scalable and resilient enterprise software

Roles & Responsibilities
