Job summary

Uber's Science team seeks a data-driven researcher to design and analyze large-scale experiments for Uber Eats and Uber Rides, turning unstructured data into actionable insights. You’ll bridge technical depth and business impact, owning projects from idea to production in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design, present findings to senior leaders, and navigate ambiguity with an owner’s mindset.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, ML, OR, or related field.
• 3 years of experience in experimental design and statistical analysis for A/B testing.
• Experience with causal inference and quasi-experiments; SQL and data modeling.
• Proficiency with Python or R for EDA.
• Experience with funnel optimization, user segmentation, and behavior insights.
• Data visualization and dashboards (Tableau, Matplotlib).
• Machine learning model development.
• Experience with scalable data processing: Spark (PySpark/Scala) or Hadoop.

Rate of Pay: $181,475 to $224,175 per Year

What you’ll do

• Design, execute, and analyze large-scale experiments within the Uber Eats and Uber Rides apps.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Design, and other cross-functional partners to understand user behavior and guide future product strategy.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior technical and business leaders.

Basic Qualifications

• Employer will accept a Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
• Position requires 3 years of experience in:
  • Experimental design and statistical analysis for A/B testing;
  • Causal inference and quasi experiment; SQL and data modeling;
  • Python/R for exploratory data analysis;
  • Funnel optimization and user segmentation, with experience extracting user behavior insights from large datasets;
  • Data visualization and dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, Matplotlib);
  • Machine learning model development;
  • Designing and implementing scalable data processing workflows using Apache Spark (PySpark/Scala) or Hadoop.
