Job summary

Corning is a leader in glass, ceramic and materials science seeking a materials scientist to design polymer formulations for inks, adhesives, and coatings. You will develop polymer systems, plan experiments, analyze data, and communicate findings to multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires an advanced degree and 0–5 years of related experience, with opportunities across life sciences, display, automotive, and energy markets. Strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Adhesion Science, or a related field.
• 0–5 years of experience in polymer formulation, materials development, or related research through industry, internships, or academic research.
• Strong foundation in polymer chemistry and polymer-based materials.
• Experience developing and characterizing formulations for inks, adhesives, coatings, or related systems.
• Strong experimental design, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret data and communicate technical findings clearly.
• High attention to detail in laboratory work, documentation, and analysis.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Adhesion Science, or a related field
• 0–5 years of experience in polymer formulation, materials development, or related research through industry, internships, or academic research
• Strong foundation in polymer chemistry and polymer-based materials
• Experience developing and characterizing formulations for inks, adhesives, coatings, or related systems
• Strong experimental design, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Experiences/Education - Desired

• Experience with thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers, and/or composite materials
• Familiarity with formulation additives such as plasticizers, fillers, stabilizers, and rheology modifiers
• Experience using data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, or similar software
• Familiarity with intellectual property processes, including invention disclosures or patent writing
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced research environment

The range for this position is $87,079.00-$119,734.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
