Job Description

The Biologics Discovery Sciences group at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join a dynamic core team supporting biologics drug discovery. The role will focus on purifying bispecific candidates with suitable purity and characteristics to support advancement into in vitro (drug-like property assays, binding, cell-based assays) and in vivo studies (efficacy, non-GLP NHP PK, DRF). The applicant must be proficient in standard bioprocess and chromatography techniques at large scale (1g-200g). Responsibilities include designing and executing process development strategies to address production liabilities and future scalability. The candidate should be an independent, creative problem solver experienced in overcoming issues related to solubility, aggregation, recovery, and purity during purification. The role also involves analytical characterization of molecules and development of analytical methods to characterize impurities. A thorough understanding of how molecular and post-translational attributes of bispecifics influence their function is essential.

The candidate should be able to work independently using chromatography software such as Unicorn, Chromeleon, and Empower. Keeping current with scientific literature and applying new knowledge innovatively is important. Data analysis, documentation, and reporting should be concise and rigorous. Excellent communication skills and proficiency in presenting to groups are required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with typically 10 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent with typically 8 years, or PhD with no experience necessary.
Additional Information
  • The compensation range is based on job grade, geographic location, and other factors. The range may be modified in the future.
  • We offer comprehensive benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
  • This role is eligible for short-term incentive programs.
