Job summary

Inotiv is seeking a Senior Method Development Scientist to advance LC-MS/MS and HRMS methods for large and small molecules in biological matrices. This role is part of the DMPK team, providing expertise on method feasibility, data interpretation, and cross‑site transfers.

The candidate will mentor juniors, collaborate on strategic planning, and ensure compliance with SOPs and GLP; the position supports growth within a dynamic CRO environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 2+ years of industry bioanalytical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in LC-MS/MS method development for large and small molecules.

Responsibilities

  • Develop highly sensitive LC-MS/MS and HRMS methods for large and small molecules in biological matrices.
  • Coordinate intercompany method transfers and client-driven transfers.
  • Communicate project timelines and data to PIs and clients.
  • Train and mentor junior scientists across departments.
  • Support long-range planning for departmental growth.

Senior Scientist – Bioanalytical Method Development LC-MS/MSThe Senior Method Development Scientist will perform method development utilizing contemporary mass spectrometry techniques (LC-MS/MS & HRMS) for large and small molecules (proteins, antibodies, ADCs oligonucleotides, etc.). The senior method development scientist will be a member of the DMPK team and will serve as a subject matter expert for new proposals, evaluating feasibility of LC-MS/MS method development, and troubleshooting challenging methods across a wide variety of species and matrices.Join us in embracing research and science to impact the health and well-being of people all over the world.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop highly sensitive LC-MS/MS and HRMS methods for large (oligonucleotides, proteins, antibodies, ADCs, biomarkers, etc) and small molecules in biological matrices.Utilize and interpret scientific theories, concepts, techniques in bioanalytical and mass spectrometry studies and accepts leadership role in developing novel scientific approachesCoordinate, facilitate, and implement intercompany method transfers and implementation of incoming transfers from clients.Communicate project timelines, status, and data to Principal Investigators, Project Management, and clients effectively addressing any issues that may arise.Ability to coordinate and execute on multiple projects simultaneously and responsive to unscheduled deadlines and client needs.Demonstrate an understanding of Best Practices, SOPs and Good Laboratory Practice Regulations (21 CFR, Part 58) as these relate to study-specific services provided, this job description, and general facility operations.Training and mentoring junior scientists within and across departmentsCollaborate with leadership on long-range planning and strategy for departmental growthPerforms other duties as assigned.Skills and AbilitiesExperience, skills, and abilities must include knowledge of contemporary bioanalytical techniques, including wet chemistry separations, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometric analysis (LC-MS/MS, HRMS), instrument operation, maintenance, and data processing.Proven track record of method development for large and small moleculesAbility to incorporate software in the maintenance of databases to collate and catalog records and inventory.Working knowledge of laboratory software, system software, and Microsoft applicationsIndependence in the laboratory and data work-up phases of research.A working knowledge and awareness of general laboratory procedures.Good written and oral communication skills.Ability to adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.Education and ExperiencePhD in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 2+ years of industrial bioanalytical experience following Post Doctoral trainingM.Sc. in a discipline previously described with 5+ years direct industrial bioanalytical experienceCandidates possessing working knowledge of in vitro metabolism/biotransformation, Pharmacokinetic modeling, analysis, interpretation and simulation desirablePhysical Activity and Working ConditionsWork is normally performed in a typical interior office work or laboratory environmentWork environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipmentThe noise level is usually moderateThis position will frequently be involved with radiant/electrical energy, solvents, grease, oil, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, electro-mechanical hazards, flammable materials and bio-hazards.
