Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting in Holly, MI is seeking a Safety professional to lead site safety programs on industrial construction projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Occupational Health and Safety and 3–5 years of relevant experience, with knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA regulations and incident investigation techniques. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • 3–5 years of construction or industrial safety experience.
  • Experience supporting rigging, machinery moving, equipment installation, or similar heavy industrial operations.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and MIOSHA regulations.
  • Experience working with both union and non-union workforces.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training programs and presentations.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or ability to obtain.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine job site inspections and audits to verify safety compliance with company, customer, OSHA, and MIOSHA requirements.
  • Identify workplace hazards, recommend corrective actions, and verify timely implementation of hazard controls.
  • Lead and participate in pre-task planning, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments.
  • Provide safety leadership and guidance to project managers, supervisors, foremen, and field employees.
  • Deliver safety orientation, toolbox talks, regulatory training, and other safety presentations.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist project teams in developing site-specific safety plans and ensuring customer safety requirements.
  • Support field crews in hazard identification, mitigation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, inspection reports, training records, and incident reports.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, project teams, and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with management and cross-functional departments to support operational and safety objectives.
  • Independently manage safety activities on assigned customer job sites with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections, customer audits, and internal safety audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of three (3-5) years of construction or industrial safety experience.
  • Experience supporting rigging, machinery moving, equipment installation, or similar heavy industrial operations.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and MIOSHA regulations.
  • Experience working with both union and non-union workforces.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation, root cause analysis, pre-task planning, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • OSHA 500 (Construction) or OSHA 501 (General Industry) certification.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS).
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer (Construction or General Industry).
  • Experience supporting OEM manufacturing or industrial construction projects.
  • Experience conducting customer safety orientations and managing customer-specific safety requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Mobility & Navigation: The ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs and ladders, stoop, kneel, and bend while traversing active construction sites.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Frequent ability to lift and move up to 10–25 pounds (like laptops, blueprints, or small tools), with occasional demands to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Sensory Demands: Excellent visual acuity (including depth perception and color vision) to inspect blueprints and site quality, as well as the ability to focus on specific sounds and speech in loud environments.
  • Environmental Exposure: Resilience to withstand varying outdoor weather, loud noise, vibrations, and potential exposure to airborne particles or dust.
  • PPE Capability: Physical ability to safely wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, heavy boots, safety vests, and hearing or eye protection.
