Position Summary

The Sr. Risk and AI Analyst is a curious, adaptable risk professional who provides second-line oversight across technology risk and operational risk. This role is intentionally fungible — designed to move fluidly across risk domains based on organizational priorities — rather than operating within a single specialty. In addition to traditional risk responsibilities, this role helps advance Green Dot's AI capabilities by identifying opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, developing AI-enabled workflows, and supporting responsible AI adoption across the risk function. A background in modeling or quantitative analysis is a meaningful plus. This role is intended for a person who can exercise independent judgment, manage complex assignments, and contribute meaningfully to the AI evolution and overall evolution of enterprise risk management practices.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Oversight & Control Validation

• Provide second-line oversight across technology and operational risk domains, rotating across areas as organizational needs shift.
• Independently assess the design and operating effectiveness of first‑line controls and identify opportunities to strengthen risk mitigation strategies.
• Validate that documented controls are functioning as intended by reviewing supporting evidence and assessing gaps.
• Review‑and‑challenge activities related to risk assessments, control self‑assessments (RCSAs), and remediation plans, providing credible challenges to ensure risks are appropriately identified, assessed, and managed.
• Identify control weaknesses and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for management.
• Analyze complex risk and control issues, determine root causes, and recommend effective solutions that improve business processes and reduce organizational risk.
• Advise risk team on risk management practices, control design, and emerging technology‑related risks.

Data Analysis & Risk Reporting

• Analyze data from multiple sources to identify emerging risks, trends, control gaps, and opportunities for proactive mitigation.
• Develop and enhance risk reporting, dashboards, and key risk indicators that provide meaningful insights and support risk‑based decision making by management.
• Strengthen the use of objective evidence and measurable outcomes when assessing risk and the effectiveness of business safeguards.
• Partner with business and technology teams to understand data needs, confirm data quality, and improve access to actionable information.

AI Adoption & Innovation

• Actively use AI tools in day‑to‑day risk work — including analysis, drafting, summarization, and research.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve AI‑enabled solutions and automated workflows that increase efficiency, strengthen risk monitoring capabilities, and improve analytical effectiveness.
• Assess emerging AI technologies and associated risks, providing recommendations regarding practical applications, governance considerations, and operational implementation.
• Develop risk AI solutions by implementing risk assessment models, automating data pipelines, and integrating analytics.
• Help establish practical, scalable approaches to AI‑assisted risk oversight as the function matures.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Risk Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in risk management, financial services operations, auditing, compliance, or a related discipline.
• Experience in banking, fintech, payments, or another regulated financial services environment.
• Demonstrated ability to locate, analyze, and interpret data and translate findings into practical business insights.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating risk and control environments and developing recommendations to address complex business issues.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently through ambiguous or complex assignments.
• Experience communicating complex risk, technology, or regulatory concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., large language models, AI‑assisted research or writing tools) as part of everyday work.
• Experience building relationships and influencing stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deliver results in ambiguous environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in modeling or quantitative analysis — strongly preferred.
• Hands‑on experience building AI agents, automation workflows, or multi‑step prompt chains using tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with large language model (LLM) APIs and how to integrate them into workflows.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical tools.
• Knowledge of risk frameworks such as NIST, or enterprise risk management (ERM) methodologies.

Position Type

Regular PAY RANGE The targeted base salary for this position is $101,400 to $152,000 per year. The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.
