Job summary

HNTB Corporation is seeking an experienced engineering leader for project scope, fee quotation, and complex contract development. You will coordinate activities, monitor progress, and lead the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects across large teams.

The role requires leading teams, managing sub-consultants, and ensuring submittals align with plans and schedules, while driving cost control and quality within the discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 12 years of relevant experience.
• All jurisdictional certificates.
• Experience leading large teams and coordinating with sub-consultants.
• Proficiency with system tools to manage, monitor and deliver complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop project scope and fee quotations and assist in technical proposals and contracts.
• Coordinate project activities, establish priorities and staff for jobs.
• Prepare Summary Inspection Report of daily activities.
• Monitor contractor progress and compare with the progress schedule.
• Resolve technical field issues and coordinate with Architects and Engineers for RFI responses.
• Oversee project controls including schedule reviews and contractor controls.
• Review submittals for conformance to plans and specs.
• Develop strategies with the contractor for submittal packages that conform to schedule.
• Lead the project management plan and deliverables.
• Mentor and supervise project team to meet objectives.
• Identify and resolve non-compliant work and enforce contract plans.
• Provide cost control and quality control within the discipline.
• Support business development and client relationships on mega projects.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience

What You'll Do

• Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
• Coordinates project activities establishes priorities and staff to jobs.
• Prepares Summary Inspection Report of Daily activities.
• Monitors contractor progress and compares with the reviewed progress schedule.
• Resolves technical field issues and coordinates with Architects and Engineers for timely and accurate responses to requests for information.
• Oversees project controls including checking contractors’ controls, coordination of schedule, and reviewing constructors schedule.
• Reviews submittals for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Develops strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.
• Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.
• Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan.
• Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
• Identifies and resolves non-compliant work.
• Provides interpretation and enforcement of contract plans and specifications.
• Develops strategies with the contractor to create submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.
• Confirms change order requests, develops estimates, negotiates costs, and writes change orders.
• Provides cost control on projects and quality control within discipline.
• Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for mega and super mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA).
• Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials.
• Leads proposal development and interview presentations for mini-mega, mega, or super mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.
• May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of construction staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience.
• All jurisdictional certificates.

What You'll Bring

• Winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on multi-disciplined or large/complex projects.
• Identifying and handling risk and change management independently.
• Leading large teams inside and outside of HNTB using sub-consultants.
• Using system tools to manage, monitor, and deliver complex projects.
• Leading HNTB Sophisticated processes as applicable to the project.
• Serving as the lead interface with the client.
• Deploying talent to other projects and developing successors to work with same client on other work.

What We Prefer

• Master's degree in Engineering.
• 15 Years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III.
